Do you know how many questions you ask in a day? to others? to yourself?

Probably not.  Why would you?

Potentially, you can figure out how many questions you asked others based on your interactions that day.  That’s fairly easy.

But to yourself, it will be close to impossible.  In today’s ‘gazillion inputs’ world we avoid this question and simply go with the flow, our routine, our daily tasks.

I am willing to bet that IF you DID know the questions you ask yourself on a daily basis, your behaviors would be different.

You would answer those questions another way than your subconscious’ modus operandi…. and as a result, you will take other actions.

How is this so?

It’s because the act of INTENTIONALLY thinking of the question makes you more AWARE of the question you are asking yourself.  You are telling your subconscious to stop answering for you and you are taking control.

You see, your conscious CAN answer before your subconscious does.  Heck, if you don’t stop your subconscious, you are not just letting it answer the question for you, and its are already in action, DOING what your subconscious is programmed to do.  Life will happen to you instead of the other way around.

As you can imagine, we ask ourselves a lot of questions throughout the day…

What time am I getting up tomorrow?

Am I going to workout today?

What am I going to wear?

What do I want for breakfast?

What do I have to do today?

What am I going to do with my family after work?

The list goes on and on.

I call these micro questions that make us take micro desicions;  they define our day and its outcome.

Here is where I am getting at…

When you are more aware of something, you have more control.  You create an opportunity to make a choice. You have more time to THINK.  With this time, chances are you will make a better decision.  But, don’t confuse this “more time” with indecisiveness.  It is more time to evaluate the question and make a decision that puts you closer to your goal.  Whatever that may be.

Believe it or not, these micro desicions are the foundation for your macro vision.

So as you go about your day today, try to pause and think about the micro decisions you are making.  I guarantee that you will feel proud as you catch yourself making better choices.

Have a great day!

Jose
